HUDCO's Bengal Push: Numbers say it all

THE newly-constructed HUDCO Bhawan housing the complex for Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO), a premier PSU under ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation, was inaugurated by M Venkaiah Naidu recently.
Babul Supriyo, minister of state for urban development and housing and urban poverty alleviation, and Dr M. Ravi Kanth, chairman and managing director, HUDCO were also present on the occasion.
West Bengal has so far been a key state for the PSU.
Here are some of the highlights of funding patterns by HUDCO in the state...

338: Total number of schemes supported by HUDCO in West Bengal
Rs 4,421 crore: The amount of total loan sanction in the state.
Rs 3,366 crore: Already disbursed,
Out of this Rs 916 crore for housing and Rs 2,450 crore for infrastructure projects.
32.18 lakh: The total number of houses HUDCO has provided assistance for construction
This is the highest number of housing units HUDCO has supported in any state in the country.
This forms almost 20% of the entire housing units, supported by HUDCO in the country.
Almost 98% of the housing units (i.e. 31.56 lakh units) supported by HUDCO in West Bengal has been for economically weaker sections and low income group families.
48: The total number of major urban infrastructure projects HUDCO has assisted in the state, with a total loan amount of Rs 3,542 crore.
34 projects pertain to utility infrastructure, such as, water supply, drainage, solid waste, roads and bridges as well as social infrastructure, like stadiums, schools.
11 is the number of total projects with a loan amount of Rs 1,288 crore. This included 4 housing projects and 7 infrastructure projects.
HUDCO has recently sanctioned two road projects for a total loan amount of Rs 837.60 crore for West Bengal Highway Development Corporation (WBHDCL) during the current financial year 2014-15 and has also approved the proposal of executing MOU with West Bengal Police Housing Corporation Limited, for meeting the housing loan requirement for the police personnel in the state.
Rs 1.5 crore: The total amount HUDCO has sanctioned for 5 model villages and model basis in the state of West Bengal.
Rs 2 crore: The amount HUDCO has sanctioned under its CSR initiative for construction of 5 night shelters and skill development programmes.
