Seeking revival package BSNL employees to go on strike; Find out their 21 point charter of demands

IF YOU are a BSNL customer get ready for disruption of services on April 21 and 22 as the forum of BSNL unions/associations of non-executives and executives have given a two-day strike call demanding that the union government and BSNL management take immediate steps for revival of BSNL and ensuring financial viability of the once crowning jewel of the country.
The unions have already served a strike notice to the chairman and managing director of BSNL, secretary, department of telecommunications and minister of communications and IT on March 12.

have been forced to go on strike after massive lunch hour demonstrations held on March 12 did not elicit any response from the authorities concerned, said an office bearer of the Union.
Employees also organized a 'Save BSNL Campaign' holding circle level conventions and collecting signatures from people in support of their demands, he said.
They have submitted a 21-points charter of demands to the ministry and management seeking to revive the company and give them an opportunity to serve the people better.
These include immediate procurement of equipment, compensation to BSNL for loss making rural services, financial assistance to BSNL to expand services, and no merger of BSNL and MTNL in metros, payment of Rs 1250, crore in lieu of ADC, merger of BBNL with BSNL, opposition to formation of any tower company of BSNL, opposition to TRAI recommendation of surrender of 1.2 MHz spectrum, prompt filling up of vacant posts (director, finance, HR and CM), immediate refund of BWA charges for the surrendered spectrum, BSNL services be made mandatory to Central govt, state govts and PSUs, beginning of 4G services by BSNL, Pension revision of BSNL retirees, pension contribution on actual basic pay instead of the maximum of the pay scale of the employees absorbed in BSNL, implementation of the Cabinet decision on 30 percent superannuation benefits to BSNL direct recruited employees and fresh recruitment of staff.
On April 17, a meeting took place between the forum and CMD BSNL but without any headway. The CMD requested the leaders to defer the the strike, so that a meeting can be held with the secreatry, DOT, who is on a foreign tour, said the website of the forum. The CMD told that the meeting can take place in 15 days to one month.
