MTNL to invest Rs 400 crore for 1800 towers
MAHANAGAR Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) will invest Rs 400 crore for installing and commissioning 1,800 mobile towers over the next 8-10 months to improve coverage and data speeds for its subscribers.

BSNL to invest Rs 7000 cr to arrest call drops
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) will be investing around Rs 7,000 crore to install 21,000 new mobile towers to improve its services. The state-owned company, however, said it has the lowest number of call drops when compared with private sector rivals.
BSNL is working on a three-fold strategy that includes network expansion in all circles including the Northeast where call drop ratio is a little higher, conducting drive tests and network optimisation as well as infrastructure sharing with private players to further ease network congestion and, hence, services. BSNL is in talks with Vodafone India and Bharti Airtel to formally ink intra-circle roaming (ICR) deals.

Cabinet nod for financial aid to BSNL, MTNL
GOOD news for the employees of the state-owned telecom operators BSNL and MTNL. The government on August 5 gave its nod for hiving off BSNL's tower business into a new company as well as compensating it and MTNL Rs 627.20 crore for 800 MHz CDMA spectrum that they surrendered.
