IRCTC to open multi-cuisine restaurant at Janpath Hotel

VENTURING into fine dining restaurant business at five star hotels across the country, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is all set to open a speciality restaurant in the ITDC-run Hotel Janpath in New Delhi, say media reports.

An IRCTC official was quoted as quoted as saying that IRCTC plans to enter the restaurant business in a big way. We will develop and operate the space at the Janpath by launching an IRCTC-branded speciality restaurant with bar and banquet facilities.
IRCTC, a railway PSU, intends to showcase its venture at Hotel Janpath as its flagship property of this business.
IRCTC also plans to engage an established consultant for setting up this flagship property and building its brand and image.
The proposed restaurant is likely to create its brand name in the ‘Fine Dining Restaurant’ segment, thereby expanding the horizons of IRCTC’s overall catering business.
IRCTC, engaged in e-ticketing and also catering in a few selected trains, plans to strengthen the eatery business with the presence of its brand across the country.
The PSU provides meals in some premium trains like Rajdhani and Duranto, it also caters to its corporate clients like Samsung, Nokia, HCL and Oxford University Press through its base kitchens in Delhi and Noida.
A public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, IRCTC, founded in 1996, is strengthening its presence in the food catering and tourism promotion segments.
